McPhee Introduces ColorCycle Program

McPhee Electric has teamed up with the Louis Toffolon Elementary School on Northwest Drive in Plainville, CT to recycle our dry erase markers, permanent markers and highlighters.  Each building on McPhee’s campus has a location to collect these items which will periodically be brought to Toffolon School to add to their collection for Crayola.

This initiative is put together by the McPhee Green Team, our sustainability committee developed earlier this year.  The Green Team focuses on bringing forth sustainable actions for the company in governance, environmental, or social aspects.

Have old highlighters or markers? Don’t throw them away! ColorCycle them!

About Crayola ColorCycle

Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. That’s why we launched Crayola ColorCycle. Through this initiative, students in K-12 schools across the continental United States and parts of Canada can collect and repurpose used Crayola markers.

ColorCycle is also a great opportunity for teachers and their students to explore eco-friendly practices. Specially developed standards-based lesson plans are available to enrich instruction and promote lively class discussions.

McPhee Participates in Foodshare Walk Against Hunger

McPhee Electric has a longstanding history of supporting the community and has supported Foodshare for many years, the regional food bank supporting Hartford and Tolland counties.

Team McPhee participated in the annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger last weekend held at Dunkin Donuts Park, which their commercial division had a part in building. It was a great day to stomp out hunger!

McPhee Teddy Awards

The McPhee Awards Banquet, an annual company event, was held at the Thayer Hotel at West point on March 16th to honor our many employees from Connecticut and New Jersey.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Teddy Awards.

McPhee Electric has a longstanding tradition of recognizing exceptional men and women in our workforce. Named after our founder, Ted McPhee, the “Teddy Awards” have become a tradition and part of our culture in celebrating individuals who continually strive to make McPhee Electric an outstanding place to work. This year, we are excited to recognize six great people: John Lensi, Tony Recanati, John Tomczak, Nicholas Melchiorre, Ryan Warwick and Dave Hewitt.

Congratulations all! McPhee appreciates your hard work and dedication.

 McPhee has announced leadership transitions today positioning McPhee to expand its utility and commercial business across its New England and Mid-Atlantic footprint.

 Julie Blum, McPhee’s long -standing Vice President of Estimating will her shift focus to Management Development and Training targeted at the next generation of leaders beginning January 1, 2019. “Developing leadership talent energizes a company and these transitions establish a creative environment for our employees,” said Mike McPhee, CEO of Phalcon, Ltd.

 “The team at McPhee has such a strong reputation and is so competitive, in large measure due to Julie’s impact over the years, that it was a good fit with her strengths and our larger needs. We are looking forward to her turning her attention to an area that will be critical to our success as we develop leaders for the future in order to keep our top position with customers in the markets we serve,” says Marcus McPhee, President of McPhee Electric, Ltd.

 Marcus will oversee the transition of the utility client interface role that Julie currently manages. Clay Paniati and Jake McPhee will lead the estimating efforts in the Commercial and Utility areas as Julie shifts her focus and efforts. Max McPhee, VP of operations in NJ will expand his role overseeing utility client relationships in CT and NJ. Andrew Wallace, Anthony Passanante and Judy DeLuca in the South Plainfield office will all be stepping-up to additional operational responsibilities as Max takes on his additional responsibilities in CT

Dream Cruise

The Dream Cruise and Wrangler Rally is one of the largest car cruises benefiting Special Olympics and The Hometown Foundation, Inc. Hundreds of automotive enthusiast from all over the country convene at The Farmington Polo Club. As part of the cruise, Special Olympics athletes are paired with the exotic, classic-car, or Wrangler owners and are given the opportunity to ride in their vehicles. The police-escorted cruise, journeys through the Farmington Valley for 12-miles and ends at The Farmington Club, where the athletes are honored at a red carpet affair.

This year Bernie Knochenhauer from McPhee Electric, LTD was chosen to drive a Special Olympic Athlete in his 2013 Dodge Viper .  Despite the clouds and some rain, everybody had a wonderful time.

The McPhee Awards Banquet, an annual company event, was held at the Hartford Marriott Downtown on March 3rd to honor our many employees. Dinner & dancing highlighted the night but the main event was the presentation of the Teddy Awards.

McPHEE Family Football Tradition Continues

On Saturday October 28, McPhee employees, family, and friends were invited to Rentschler Field to enjoy a tailgate and the UConn vs. Missouri game. Over 200 employees and family members joined us to celebrate this annual event of food, family, and football. It was a great time to interact with fellow coworkers outside of the office and field. A big thank you to the McPhee Family for hosting this company tradition.

McPhee Plays Ball and Honors Retirements

McPhee celebrated the hard work and dedication of two employees retiring this summer with a friendly Wiffle Ball game and picnic for its staff.

It was a beautiful day to play ball!  McPhee has hosted a summer wiffleball tournament for years sparking fierce rivalry among employees.  This year was no different as the competitive banter started weeks before the game.  Commercial Project Manager Brian Parent led one team while Utility Project Coordinator Rosemarie Nyborg captained the other.

After plenty of foul balls, base hits, and even one home run, Brian’s team took home the victory in a 6 to 5 score game.  The game took place at ‘The Gene Burube Field’ at McPhee’s campus commemoratively named for a former employee.

McPhee honored Terry Beck, our administrative assistant of over 30 years along with Richard Parsons, our Fleet & Rentals Manager.  Both will be missed and hard to replace. A sincere congratulations and best wishes to Terry and Richard in their days off ahead!

Team McPhee Stepped Out Against Hunger in Connecticut

Team McPhee, led by President Marcus McPhee, took part in the 34th Annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger on Sunday, May 7th at the Liam E. McGee Memorial Park on The Hartford’s campus in Hartford, CT.

Though a chilly and cloudy day for spring, 15 members of Team McPhee walked along with 3,500+ participants to raise awareness and raise funds for Foodshare.  Statistics were shared at the event that 1 out of 8 people in Connecticut are hungry.
