The CDC has recommended covering your face in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain to help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. • The measure is voluntary. • While we are not mandating it, we are encouraging employees to cover their faces. • Employees should wear face coverings while working in areas where 6’ social distancing is difficult or not possible to maintain. • It is not necessary to wear a surgical mask or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders. • Reusable FR Balaclavas should be laundered daily, according to CDC cleaning guidance, where FR garment are required. • Reusable FR neck warmers (purchase from Tyndale/Bulwark via FR clothing allowance), should be laundered daily, according to CDC cleaning guidance, where FR garments are required. Home equipment: • Disposable personal non-N95 dust mask need to be changed daily or if significantly dirty. • Reusable bandana’s - folded to provide multiple layers based on CDC guidance. • Reusable neck gaiter, such as a skiing warmer. • Information on other reusable home-made face coverings are in following links: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover.html https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf All face coverings should: • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face. • Be secured with ties or ear loops, if provided. • Include multiple layers of fabric. • Allow for breathing without restriction. • Be removed from behind head or ears to minimize hand contact with face . • Be laundered and machine dried at home, if reusable, without damage or change to the shape. • Cleaned, dried masks can be kept in a clean plastic bag until needed for use. It is important to note that face coverings are not a substitute for taking measures that are known to be effective in stopping the spread of the virus. The most critical guidance that we can follow remains to be: • Maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet apart from other workers and members of the public • Frequent hand washing. We will continue to update employees as CDC recommendations evolve on this matter.
